Soccer Patch Award System We hope that this soccer season provides your child with a basic knowledge and understanding of the game. It is SoccerHelp's coaching philosophy to have fun and to help build confidence and self-esteem during practice and in the games. Each individual player will learn about teamwork and how to be a great communicator on and off the field. Many players come out of their quiet shell and begin to show a willingness to attack the ball and become more aggressive on the field of play. We also hope to give each player the opportunity to develop into a true leader during group huddles at practice and during games. All of these qualities are the necessary building blocks or tools that will guide them to success through life. Below is our Soccer Patch Award System Key that will describe each patch and how to earn them throughout the season. The patches can be ironed-on to the jersey on the back around the numbers or on the back of the shoulders where a last name would be found on the jersey. GOLD STAR = AKA “The General” The player showed great leadership skills on and off the field around the other players at practice or during the game. The player takes the initiative to lead or rally the team to victory. This player gets fired up and gets the rest of the team on the same page. This player sets a good example for other players by listening and following directions at practice and during games. BLUE STAR = AKA “True Blue” The player shows bravery by battling for the ball and being the first one to the ball. There is no player too big or too tall that you are afraid of taking the ball away from. This player takes the field and represents their team to the best of their ability. This player is very loud and vocal. This player is a GREAT COMMUNICATOR and is a true TEAM PLAYER. RED STAR = AKA “Braveheart” Given to a player who is aggressive and would do anything for the team during battle. This player comes to practice and games with a “painted face” ready to go to work. This player gives 100%. This player believes in the coaches and in the team. If this player collides with an opponent or a teammate, she gets right back up and battles for the ball. This player protects her teammates and stands up for them on and off the field. BLACK SOCCER BALL = Given when a player scores a goal during a game. This is a goal patch. PINK SOOCER BALL = Given when a player makes a pass to a teammate and that teammate scores. This is an assist patch. GREEN SOCCER BALL = Given when a player has a special or spectacular effort during a practice or game and your teammates determine that you get the practice/game ball. This is the practice/game ball patch. LIGHTNING BOLT = Given when a player works equally hard at both ends of the field. She is aggressive on offense and runs back to help out on defense too. The player understands that she must work just as hard on defense and protecting the goal as well as scoring goals on offense. Half of the lightning bolt is for defense and the other half is for offense. This is the two-way player patch.(Dear visitor, ignore these links, they are for the search engines:
