How To Use The SoccerHelp Dictionary

  • The most important concepts are labelled "Key Concept"
  • Terms and concepts that we believe are appropriate to teach by age 10 have a * beside them

Please note: This site is designed for recreational coaches. If you are a beginning youth coach, keep in mind that what you try to teach should be based on the age and skill level of your players. We recommend that below age 6 you simply emphasize having fun and familiarity with using the feet to dribble and kick, from ages 6-9 you emphasize basic fundamental techniques, and that you not begin complex concepts until age 10. Our experience has been that everyone will learn more and enjoy the game more if practices and games are fun.
