Soccer Coaching DVD Recommendations For Coaches

Hi,

I will be teaching a grade 5/6 class physical education (10-11year olds, both boys and girls) and I would like a video or DVD that shows them the basic rules and skills necessary for playing the game. Some of them will have played recreational soccer at recess and some of them will be new to the game. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thank you.

Donna Cook

Donna,

The best DVD for you is Mia Hamm Soccer Secrets. Don't be influenced by the fact that it only shows girls in the video. It is by far the best DVD for showing skills, how to play and some basic rules. It has three levels beginner, intermediate and advanced on the same DVD, so you could start and progress through the year with more advanced players.

Dear SoccerHelp,

I have a daughter that is 13 on a competitive team and needs to work on being faster and better with the ball. She is a little bit shy and needs to show more aggression getting to the ball and or getting it away from the other players.

I have a son that is 9 and has a real talent in any sport, he loves soccer and would like to improve his skills. He used to be the fastest kid and now is going through a growing /heavier stage and would like a work out program.

I also have a 5 year old boy that i will be coaching this fall.

Thank you,
Coach Nicole

Nicole,

Here are your Soccerhelp recommendations:

For your 13 year old daughter: Training Girls and Women to Win
For your 9 year old son: Gol! (Brazilian Foot Skills and Ball Control Training), it has lots of entertaining instruction and an aerobic workout segment.
For your 5 year old son and you as the coach: How to Coach Very Young Soccer Players.

Please read the reviews before you decide they are right for you.
