How We Rate Videos and Books: We have watched over 220 soccer coaching videos (DVD's and tapes) and read over 70 soccer coaching books. Unfortunately, most are not good, many are a complete waste of time and money, and some are actually counterproductive. We only sell videos and books that we truly believe are the best and worth buying, and that we can give 4 or 5 star ratings (on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best). Our ratings consider the quality, length and value of an item, how it compares to other similar DVD’s, and how well it meets the needs of the targeted audience. We reject about 90% of the videos we watch.
Main Topics on This Video: Soccer moves, footwork, dribbling, ball control, beating defenders, passing, receiving and juggling training program. You should also read a review of "Coerver Play Great Soccer 2-DVD Set".
Combo Deals: We offer this DVD set as part of several Combo deals at special prices.
Summary and who it is suitable for:: This is our favorite footwork/moves/ball control video for experienced players age 9 and older and coaches of those players. However, the "Super Soccer Skills" DVD is still better for beginners and players ages 7 and 8. Every Travel, School Player and Coach should own this, as well as every Recreational player age 9 or older who wants to improve footwork or ball control. Every coach at any level will get good training and warm-up ideas from this DVD, and players will be motivated by watching it. It is really fun, eye-opening and entertaining.
Review: This is our favorite footwork/moves/ball control video for experienced players age 9 and older and coaches of those players. However, the "Super Soccer Skills" DVD is still better for beginners and players ages 7 and 8. Every coach at any level will get good training and warm-up ideas from this DVD. It teaches fun and creativity. This is a very high quality training DVD that is fun and a truly exceptional value. Players will be motivated by watching this DVD and you can watch it many times and not get bored. Much of the training it presents can be practiced indoors or even in your home (a lot of it is footwork). It shows a training program for improving foot skills using all areas of the foot and all legal parts of the body (thighs, chest, head and shoulders). The instructor is Simon Clifford, founder of the Brazilian Football Academy and Brazilian Soccer Schools, and a consultant to the film "Bend It Like Beckham". Clifford has excellent teaching skills and is charismatic. Over 150,000 youth in England, Australia and the U.S. now use this training program and it is changing English soccer. Michael Owen and other famous players have studied this program. The program is based on the training methods used in Brazil, and the Brazilians are thought of as having the best footwork, creativity and ball control in the world. Coaches can use the training program presented to train their players. The main program is 85 minutes, there is also a 14 minute juggling workout and there are 6 special features. The organization and navigation of the DVD is excellent. We highly recommend this DVD. This training approach can lead to creative, spectacular, breath-taking play, as you will see in minute 43 of the DVD. This DVD proves that a player who practices a lot can become good, even if he or she isn't a great athlete. If you watch this, you will see that the "moves" go far beyond what you see in most American soccer. This vi deo complements the SoccerHelp Practice Games and is consistent with the Soccerhelp Program.
Simon Clifford: Simon Clifford is the founder of the Brazilian Football Academy and Brazilian Soccer Schools. He was a consultant to the film "Bend It Like Beckham" and over 150,000 youth in England, Australia and the U.S. now use his training program. This training program is changing English soccer and Michael Owen and other famous players have trained with Clifford. The program is based on the training methods used in Brazil, and the Brazilians are thought of as having the best footwork, creativity and ball control in the world. Clifford is an excellent, charismatic teacher. In 2002, a U-14 team from his Chapeltown school beat the U-14 Scottish National Team. Clifford argues that the emphasis in youth soccer should be on skill development and fun-- we agree.
