“I just watched Gol! Last night. The footwork and dribbling are utterly jaw-dropping! Great video, produced extremely well. I also liked the special feature section. Offers good insight into soccer life in Brazil. Thanks for your recommendation.” Coach Bruce

“I am a High School Coach and I love your videos. Yesterday I showed our teams the GOL video on the bus on the way home. My goalies now want to see more videos. Thanks.” Coach John, CA, USA

How We Rate Videos and Books: We have watched over 220 soccer coaching videos (DVD's and tapes) and read over 70 soccer coaching books. Unfortunately, most are not good, many are a complete waste of time and money, and some are actually counterproductive. We only sell videos and books that we truly believe are the best and worth buying, and that we can give 4 or 5 star ratings (on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best). Our ratings consider the quality, length and value of an item, how it compares to other similar DVD’s, and how well it meets the needs of the targeted audience. We reject about 90% of the videos we watch.

Category: Soccer moves, footwork, dribbling, ball control, beating defenders, passing, receiving and juggling training program.

Summary and who it is suitable for:: This is our favorite footwork/moves/ball control video for experienced players age 9 and older and coaches of those players. However, the "Super Soccer Skills" DVD is still better for beginners and players ages 7 and 8. Every Travel, School Player and Coach should own this, as well as every Recreational player age 9 or older who wants to improve footwork or ball control. Every coach at any level will get good training and warm-up ideas from this DVD, and players will be motivated by watching it. It is really fun, eye-opening and entertaining.

Review: This is the most fun soccer coaching DVD I’ve ever watched and the best to inspire players to practice to improve ball control, foot skills and moves. I can watch it over and over and every time it thrills me, inspires me and makes me realize why I love soccer and why it’s called the “beautiful game”. Every coach at any level will get good training and warm-up ideas from this DVD. It is the most fun DVD to watch with players and everyone will enjoy it – coaches, players and parents. It will inspire anyone who watches it – both you and the players will want to get a ball and start practicing. It teaches fun and creativity. It shows Simon Clifford, an Englishman, training English boys using a Brazilian style of training. Clifford went to Brazil, studied their training, and developed this training program. He is a very articulate, insightful guy and an excellent teacher. He says the emphasis in youth soccer should be on skill development and fun, and we agree. This DVD proves that a player doesn’t have to be a great athlete to become a great ballhandler. This is a very high quality training DVD that is fun and a truly exceptional value. Players will be motivated by watching this DVD and you can watch it many times and not get bored. Much of the training it presents can be practiced indoors or even in your home (a lot of it is footwork). It shows a training program for improving foot skills using all areas of the foot and all legal parts of the body (thighs, chest, head and shoulders). The instructor is Simon Clifford, founder of the Brazilian Football Academy and Brazilian Soccer Schools, and a consultant to the film "Bend It Like Beckham". Clifford has excellent teaching skills and is charismatic. Over 150,000 youth in England, Australia and the U.S. now use this training program and it is changing English soccer. Michael Owen and other famous players have studied this program. The program is based on the training methods used in Brazil, and the Brazilians are thought of as having the best footwork, creativity and ball control in the world. Coaches can use the training program presented to train their players. The main program is 85 minutes and there are also Bonus features. The organization and navigation of the DVD is excellent. We highly recommend this DVD. This training approach can lead to creative, spectacular, breath-taking play, as you will see in minute 43 of the DVD. This DVD proves that a player who practices a lot can become good, even if he or she isn't a great athlete. If you watch this, you will see that the "moves" go far beyond what you see in most American soccer. This video complements the SoccerHelp Practice Games and is consistent with the Soccerhelp Program.

Simon Clifford: Simon Clifford is the founder of the Brazilian Football Academy and Brazilian Soccer Schools. He was a consultant to the film "Bend It Like Beckham" and over 150,000 youth in England, Australia and the U.S. now use his training program. This training program is changing English soccer and Michael Owen and other famous players have trained with Clifford. The program is based on the training methods used in Brazil, and the Brazilians are thought of as having the best footwork, creativity and ball control in the world. Clifford is an excellent, charismatic teacher. In 2002, a U-14 team from his Chapeltown school beat the U-14 Scottish National Team. Clifford argues that the emphasis in youth soccer should be on skill development and fun-- we agree.

  2. Bonus: Mr. Woo's 14 Minute Workout. (NOTE: This part doesn't play properly on some DVD players. Consider it a bonus if it works. ) Juggling the ball using every part of the body. Normal players are not going to be able to do this, and it isn't very applicable to real soccer; it's like watching a professional juggler, not a soccer player who can juggle. The commentary doesn't start until 2:20 minutes into it. Every copy of the U.S. version of Gol! has this problem and it doesn't help to for us to send a different copy. Assume this part won't work, but you aren't missing anything that would help you as a coach or that would help your players.

  3. Bonus: Special Features:

    1. Simon Clifford discusses the International Federation Of Futebol De Salao

    2. From Favales to Flumimese. An interview with Roger Galera, a professional player with Fluminese Football Club.
