Similar DVD's We Recommend: For experienced players ages 9 and older we recommend you consider Mia Hamm Soccer Secrets DVD, England Skills Uncovered DVD, Soccer Success One On One Coaching (Basic and Intermediate Skills), and Gol! (Brazilian Foot Skills and Ball Control Training Program) DVD. For beginners and players ages 7 and 8, we recommend you consider the Super Soccer Skills DVD.
How We Rate Videos and Books: We have watched over 220 soccer coaching videos (DVD's and tapes) and read over 70 soccer coaching books. Unfortunately, most are not good, many are a complete waste of time and money, and some are actually counterproductive. We only sell videos and books that we truly believe are the best and worth buying, and that we can give 4 or 5 star ratings (on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best). Our ratings consider the quality, length and value of an item, how it compares to other similar DVDs, and how well it meets the needs of the targeted audience. We reject about 90% of the videos we watch.
Categories: Soccer moves, footwork, dribbling, attacking, beating defenders, passing, receiving, finishing, speed training program and group attacking. Other "Moves" and "1v1 Attacking" training DVD's that we highly recommend are: "Gol! (Brazilian Foot Skills and Ball Control Training Program) DVD", "Play Like Champions DVD", "Training Girls and Women To Win 3-DVD Set" and the "Training Championship Players and Teams 3-DVD Set".
Summary and who it is suitable for: This is one of our favorite footwork/moves/ball control videos for experienced players age 9 and older and coaches of those players. However, the "Super Soccer Skills" DVD is still better for beginners and players ages 7 and 8. . Every Travel, School Player and Coach should own this, as well as every Recreational player age 9 or older who wants to improve footwork or ball control. Every coach at any level will get good training and warm-up ideas from this DVD. It is a great deal at this price.
Review: The Coerver Coaching program is one of the largest in the world and it emphasizes skills and attacking. This 2-DVD set is excellent and a truly exceptional value. It takes the best material from the New Era Series which sold for $99.95. The DVD's move along quickly and present dozens of excellent foot skills exercises to develop touch and fast feet, "moves" for 1 v 1 attacking, passing and receiving exercises and games, and exercises to improve speed, finishing and group attacking. The Coerver coaches have developed an effective training program that starts with the basics and has a logical progression. They call this the "Pyramid of Player Development". "Ball Mastery" is the foundation of the pyramid, followed by "Receiving /Passing", "Moves and 1 v 1 Attacking and Defending", Speed, Finishing and Group Attacking, which is at the top of the pyramid. This is a very good approach. These DVD's are full of good ideas. If you're a Rec coach, you should keep in mind that some of what is shown is simply beyond the ability of many Rec players, but, that's true of most of the "Moves" videos. A valuable point these DVD's make is that "Moves" consist of changes of direction, stops and starts (or "change of speed") and feints. Some of the most effective moves involve change of speed and change of direction. You would not want to buy this if you already have The New Era series. At this price, this 2 - DVD set is a great deal!
User Tips/Navigation: Navigation is a little tricky. The chapter selection isn't all on one page and the organization is somewhat confusing. We suggest using the fast forward and reverse and our Detailed Index to navigate.
