How wrestling coaches use Star Patches: The Star Patches have worked out so well for our wrestling team. We give them out for guys who take what they learn in practice and use it on the mat. A win or a loss doesn't matter to us, as long as they are learning and improving. These awards have been a great addition to our program. I started handing out the patches following our practice session after we played our first game. One of my player’s mother told me her son usually played timidly and stayed in the background. He was so proud of the star patches and soccer ball patches that now he is one of the better and more aggressive (in a good way) players on the team. He comes home with the patches and tells his mom that he got a patch for his great play, hustle, defense, etc. All the boys look forward each practice to receiving the patches. Last game the whole team played so well, we won 7-0 that they all got a star patch and a soccer ball patch.
